We Want to See NATCO A Profitable Organization: Ch. Muhammad Barjees Tahir

Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgig-Baltistan, Ch Muhammad Barjees Tahir has directed the Managing Director that he wants to see NATCO as a profitable organization. He reiterated that Pakistan Muslim League (N) led government is pursuing the policy of least interference into state organizations. “We believe in merit and transparency. Government subsidizes NATCO with more than Rs.100 million a year still company is facing deficit. On the other hand private transport companies are making profit on the same route. This service was initiated to facilitate the underserved Northern Areas but it is facilitating Punjab and Sindh the most” He said. He was chairing a meeting to review the performance of Government run Transportation Company. Meeting was attended by Federal Secretary Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Division Mr Shahidullah Baig and Additional Secretary Tahir Razad Naqvi along with Saeedullah Yousafzai MD, NATCO.

Managing Director NATCO Briefed the Minister about the operations and performance of the Company. Federal Minister ordered the Managing Director to submit a detail of all routes along with their profit and loss analysis. A committee under the supervision of Additional Secretary Mr Tahir Raza Naqvi was constituted to review performance along with challenges faced by the Company. This committee will submit remedial measures to make it profitable. Other members of the committee include MD, NATCO, Joint Secretary GB Council, Deputy Secretary GB Council and Secretary Food Department, Government of Gilgit-Baltistan.
