Govt vows to empower people of GB: Ch. Muhammad Barjees Tahir

Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Ch. Muhammad Barjees Tahir on Tuesday said government is seriously interested in the empowerment of the people of GB and restrated the development work on various incomplete projects in the areas. A meeting of Standing Committee on Gilgit Baltistan held under the Chairmanship of Haji Muhammad Adeel at Parliament House. The Minister informed the committee about the steps taken by the present government adding that the main reason behind Chilas and Basham road blockade is land sliding and government was taking steps to resolve the issues faced by the people. The Minsiter said he was interested int he recommendations of committee which will help to work in better way to provide the basic facilities to the Gilgit Baltistan. To a question, he said government provides facilites to the affectees of Attabad lake and a colony will be established to redress their problems. To another question, Minster for Kashmir Affairs & Gilgit Baltistan Ch. Muhammad Barjees Tahir informed the committee that the purpose of Silk Route Festival was to attract the tourists in the areas. He said further steps would be taken to bring the tourists in such beautiful areas. The committee assured its all out support to the Ministry in overcoming challenges in the way of its effective performance. The meeitng was attended among others by Senators Jahangir Badar and Farhat Ullah Babar besides Secretary of the Ministry and other senior officials were also present.
