Federal Minister presiding the meeting on Boundary Dispute

Chaudhary Muhammad Barjees Tahir, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs & Gilgit-Baltistan has said that that Diamer Bhasha Dam is vital for the future of the country and that all the hindrances in its construction must be removed as early as possible. He said this while chairing high level meeting of ministerial committee on Bhasha Dam.

A meeting on construction, land acquisition and related issues was held in Ministry of Kashmir Affairs & Gilgit-Baltistan under the Chairmanship of Ch. Muhammad Barjees Tahir. Meeting was attended by Pervez Rashid, Prof, Ahsan Iqbal and Riaz Huissain Pirzada. Other participants included Shahidullah Beg, Secretary Ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan and representatives of KPK Government. Mandate of this committee is identification of issues regarding construction, land acquisition and territorial disputes. This committee will present a detailed report to the Prime Minister. This Committee deliberated on all related issues of Diamer Bhasha Dam. All the participants agreed on immediate construction of the Dam.

Ch Muhammad Barjees Tahir said that region could face a food crisis in future owing to global climatic change that is why construction of water storage facilities is central to the policies of the present government.
