UN responsible for resolving Kashmir issue:Barjees Tahir

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Chaudhry Barjees Ahmmad Tahir on Wednesday termed the United Nations (UN) responsible to resolve the Kashmir issue according to its own passed resolutions.


Peace in the region linked with Kashmir issue,he added. Talking to the national television, the minister said that no resolution would be accepted without participation of people of Kashmir, adding that Kashmir is jugular vein of Pakistan. He said that Pakistan is still stand of its day one stance of that Kashmir is a disputed territory, international community should come forward and play their role to resolve the issue according to desire of the people of the area.Barjees said that Indian leadership had accepted the right of plebiscite of the Kashmiri people at the forum of United Nations but it was not implemented in the occupied territory. He said that India should not claim as a big democracy of the world without giving the right of plebiscite to Kashmiri people.


He said that war was not solution of any issue because war is itself a big problem, adding that both the countries should spend the huge amount for the betterment, welfare and development of the people rather than buying the heavy weapons. India was responsible to create unrest in Balochistan province, the minister alleged. Responding to a question, the minister said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is fully committed to remove the big problems of the country including energy, terrorism, poverty and also trying to resolve the Kashmir issue with sincere efforts. He expressed the hope that Kashmir issue would be resolved under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif The performance of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) government was satisfactory during the last seven months, the Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan claimed.
